A sleeveless cheollik in organza, cut longer than the standard. The pleats break light like seawater, named for the moment the wave turns to spray.

The Mulboraa Sleeveless Cheollik

The summer cheollik.

Fabric

Sheer organza top layer, opaque silk-touch slip beneath. Lined through the bodice. Side zip hidden under the wrap closure.

Occasion

A garden wedding in late June. A rooftop in August. The piece you reach for when the air is too warm for silk but the day asks for ceremony.

The story

Cheollik began as a robe for the Joseon court, engineered for a body on horseback. The pleats fall from a fitted yoke so that the silhouette holds its line in motion. Six centuries later the same architecture survives because it solves the same problem: a long shape that can move without losing its quiet.

The summer reading keeps the geometry and drops the weight. Organza is cool against the skin and translucent in indirect light, so the chima reads paler than its color from a distance and exact up close. The slip beneath gives the body, the outer layer gives the movement.

Worn in the months when silk is too much. A garden ceremony where the photographs land in shade. An evening when the heat finally breaks and you want a piece that registers as Korean without insisting on it. The cheollik wears like a long dress and reads like a vow.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
