A clean lifestyle chima offered in two lengths. The long line keeps the traditional silhouette intact. The mini moves the same waistband above the knee.

The Gouna Skirt (Long or Mini)

One skirt. Two registers.

Fabric

Mid-weight cotton blend with a soft drape. Waistband sewn in, no overlay. Hidden side zip.

Occasion

Saturday markets. A weekday lunch where you do not want to explain the outfit. The piece that telegraphs Korean without announcing it.

The story

The chima is the oldest piece of the hanbok wardrobe. It predates the jeogori, predates the borrowed Western blouse, predates the moment Korean fashion learned to argue with itself. A wide waistband, a single bias, fabric that falls instead of fits. The Gouna keeps that architecture and sheds the floor.

Two lengths, one construction. The long line falls to the ankle for the family table, the holiday photo, the Sunday a mother wants the daughter to read as Korean before she reads as anything else. The mini cuts the same waistband above the knee for the daughter who wants the silhouette without the announcement. The pleats are pressed identically. The hand of the fabric is the same.

A household with both lengths can dress in conversation. The mother in long, the daughter in mini, the pleats catching the same light across a single room. That is the read.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
