The Saburang Organza Skirt.

Reference TKIM-D-024 · 3 to 4 week production

$215 to $305 · quoted in consultation

A skirt that layers organza over a smooth slip, with the outer cut longer than the slip beneath. The hip reads soft, the line stays clean, the hem catches light through the sheer.

The Saburang Organza Skirt

Organza, in motion.

Fabric

Sheer organza outer over a polyblend slip. Hand-tacked hem. Hidden side zip.

Occasion

A garden event in late spring. An engagement tea in May where the table is set outdoors. The afternoon photograph that asks for soft movement. The piece that catches the light without catching the attention.

The story

Saburang is a Korean adverb for the way a skirt rustles, the sound of fabric brushing against fabric in motion. The chima has carried that sound for centuries. The court woman's chima rustled when she walked. The bride's chima rustled when she sat. The sound is part of the form.

This skirt builds the rustle into the construction. A sheer organza outer layers over a polyblend slip that sits a measure shorter, so the outer floats past the inner at the hem. The Seoul workshop hand-tacks the hem so the layers stay clean through a day of wear. A hidden side zip closes the piece without breaking the line.

Worn at a garden engagement tea in late spring. The skirt moves between the table and the garden. The afternoon light catches the organza at the hip. A guest who has been watching all afternoon finally asks about the layering. The sound of the skirt has been answering for an hour.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
