Worn beneath any sheer or organza outer in the wardrobe. The piece you never see and always notice when it is missing.
Korean tailoring takes its underlayers seriously. A cheollik in organza is not a finished piece until the slip beneath does its work. The outer carries the color and the texture. The inner carries the opacity and the line. Either one alone is half a garment.
This is the inner. A polyblend with a smooth feel against skin, sized to sit just under the hem of the outer it lives with. The elastic waistband gives a fit range so the piece works across body and weight shifts. The Seoul workshop finishes the hem by hand so the bottom does not catch on the organza above.
Worn under the sleeveless cheollik at a summer wedding. The bride moves from the ceremony to the reception. The slip never appears in a photograph and never gives up the line. A piece this quiet is the reason the loud pieces work.
Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
