$245 to $355 · quoted in consultation

A cheollik with a wrap closure instead of the traditional side tie. Easier to dress and undress without sacrificing the cheollik line. A hidden snap reinforces the visible tie.

The Jangyeol Wrap Cheollik

Honest compromise, not shortcut.

Fabric

Mid-weight matte poly, soft against the neck, structured at the wrap overlay. Hidden snap reinforcing the visible tie.

Occasion

A travel day with a connecting flight. A family dinner where you arrive from the airport with an hour to dress. The morning after a redeye when the closure has to be honest. The piece that respects an unpredictable schedule.

The story

The traditional cheollik closes with a side tie that takes practice and a second pair of hands. The architecture is the architecture. A modern tailor can argue with the closure without arguing with the line, and the argument has to be made honestly or the piece reads as a costume shortcut.

Jangyeol replaces the side tie with a wrap closure and reinforces the visible tie with a hidden snap. The cheollik silhouette stays intact. A mid-weight matte poly drapes through the body. The Seoul workshop structures the wrap overlay so the closure does not collapse in the first hour of wear.

Worn on a travel day. The wearer flies from the Bay Area to a family dinner in Los Angeles. The cheollik comes out of the carry-on and onto the body in the airport bathroom. Dinner starts an hour after landing. Nobody at the table knows the closure is a wrap, and that is the point.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
