The story
Sanarae is the Korean word for mountain wings, the lift a hiker feels at the ridge line when the path opens up. The everyday chima can hold that feeling if the pleats are softened and the hem is given a measure more. The body needs room. The morning earns it.
This piece softens the pleat against the Daily and fills the hem. The same mid-weight cotton blend holds the silhouette. The Seoul workshop lines the top panel so the waist sits smooth under a blouse. The hem lands at the same mid-calf length. The motion through the hip is the difference. The piece walks.
Worn at a Saturday garden visit with friends. The chima moves between the gravel path and the herb beds. The afternoon runs three hours. The wearer kneels to look at the rosemary and stands back up without adjusting. That is the read the softer pleat is for.
