The story

The jeogori is the upper half of the hanbok, the short jacket that closes at the chest with a goreum. Its line names what is essential, a shoulder set narrow, a sleeve cut short, a closure at the breastbone. Modern translations of the form often lose the discipline. The Kkochgureum keeps the discipline and adds a hand pressed into the cloth.

Lightweight poly-cotton with the right amount of body to hold a pleat. Pintucks are pressed by hand through the chest, fine enough that the eye reads texture before pattern. A mother-of-pearl button sits at the goreum line. The placket is hand-finished. Nothing on the surface reaches for attention and the whole piece reads as careful work.
