The Maru Tweed Blouse.

$195 to $285 · quoted in consultation

Maru, peak. A tweed blouse cut in jeogori proportions. The opening sits at the front like a classic tweed, mother-of-pearl buttons run the placket, and the hanbok collar detail reads at the goreum line. Lined through the bust.

The Maru Tweed Blouse

Tweed, with hanbok bones.

Fabric

Cotton-blend tweed with a soft hand. Mother-of-pearl button placket. Liner through the bust.

Occasion

A fall lunch where the dress code does not name itself. A weekday meeting that pretends to be casual. The blouse that walks between hanbok and modern wardrobe in one shape without explanation.

The story

Tweed entered Korean fashion through the postwar import wardrobe and stayed. The fabric carries weight without stiffness and reads as careful work in any cut. The jeogori is older than tweed by centuries but the two share a discipline. A short jacket with a clean closure and a shoulder set narrow, in either tradition, reads as quiet command.

Cotton-blend tweed with a soft hand so the blouse can pass through a long lunch without bruising. Mother-of-pearl buttons run the front placket, the goreum line is held by the collar detail rather than a ribbon. The piece is lined through the bust for body and finished by hand at the placket. The tweed weave reads Korean at the collar and Western at the closure.

Worn to the autumn lunch where the room is small and the dress code does not announce itself. The piece that lets the wearer arrive in tweed and read Korean at the same time. A weekday meeting that pretends to be casual. The blouse that holds both tracks of the wardrobe without explanation.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
