The Multi-Ribbon Pair

Small ribbon. Small change.

Fabric

Satin ribbon, hand-knotted. Stainless backing for secure pinning.

Occasion

Anywhere the day wants one small color note. The piece for the morning when the outfit is already decided and a ribbon is the last word.

The story

Ribbon is the oldest finish in the Korean wardrobe. The goreum that closes the jeogori is itself a ribbon. The daenggi that ties a braid is a ribbon. Color and knot do the work of announcement before any other ornament arrives. A pair of small ribbons carries that habit into a wardrobe that may not include a jeogori on a given day.

Satin ribbon in two contrasting tones, each hand-knotted into a small bow and finished with a stainless pin backing. The knot holds without slipping. The pin closure is fine enough to fasten to hair or a lapel without bruising the cloth. The two ribbons can be worn as a pair or split between two people on a coordinated day.

Worn on the morning when the outfit is already done and the ribbon is the last word, pinned at a low ponytail or at the collar of a coat. The day a mother and a daughter decide to match in one detail and leave the rest alone. A small color note that reads as deliberate without asking for the eye.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
