Good day. In a blouse.
Lightweight cotton blend with a softening finish. Mother-of-pearl button placket.
Saturday markets. A weekday lunch in the city. The piece that turns a Tuesday into something worth photographing. Pairs with jeans or with any chima from the line.
The jeogori is the upper garment of the hanbok, the half that closes at the goreum and reads as the most legible Korean shape. The blouse-cut version is a 21st-century answer to a daily question: how do you carry the jeogori line into a wardrobe that includes denim and a Tuesday morning. The answer is a softened shoulder and a longer body.
Joeunnal keeps the goreum and the placket and shifts everything else. The shoulder is cut without a sharp break. The body extends past the natural waist for layering over a skirt or for tucking into pants. The mother-of-pearl buttons replace the traditional knot for a cleaner morning routine.
Worn to the Saturday market in the same way you would wear a linen shirt, with a tote and a coffee. The jeogori line reads to the Korean grandmother across the table at the cafe, who looks twice and smiles. The blouse calls the day good before the day has done anything to earn it.
