A cheollik in a cool sea-blue tone with a deeper bodice register. The name reads as cyan, fresh. The color is the design, no overlay, no print. Mid-weight cotton blend, lined bodice.

The Cheongcho Cheollik

Cyan. Held quiet.

Fabric

Mid-weight cotton blend in solid cyan. Lined through the bodice.

Occasion

An indoor formal event. A coastal-set family portrait where the wardrobe palette is being curated. The piece that anchors a blue palette without competing with the other pieces in it.

The story

Solid cyan in Korean dress is a relatively recent reading. Joseon-era hanbok worked across saturated reds, royal blues, deep emeralds, often in combination. The single-color cheollik in a cool register is a contemporary minimal answer, an atelier's choice to let the color do all the work.

Cheongcho holds the color steady from bodice to hem. There is no overlay, no embroidered detail, no tonal banding. The cotton blend was chosen for the way it takes the dye, the cyan reading exact in indoor light. The bodice is lined for structure. The pleats are pressed before shipping. The piece is the color.

Worn to the coastal family portrait where the rest of the family wears a blue palette. The cheollik sits as the deepest note in the photograph. The brother in navy and the daughter in a lighter blue gather around it. The grandmother who curated the palette sees the photograph weeks later and the cyan is what she names first.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
