The Linen Mini Chima (Navy)

Mini. In linen.

Fabric

Lightweight linen blend in navy. Wrap closure with hidden tie.

Occasion

Saturday markets. Brunches in late spring. The piece for the day that doesn't want a long line, where the wrap closure and the linen carry the hanbok read on their own.

The story

The mini chima is a contemporary form. The traditional chima sat at the ankle or longer; the mini cut, above the knee, is a 21st-century answer for the wearer who wants the silhouette without the floor. The Seoul ateliers have been cutting it for a decade and the form has settled.

The linen mini holds the waistband at the natural rise and drops the hem above the knee. The navy linen reads casual against a white blouse and slightly more deliberate against a contrasting jeogori. The wrap closure ties at the side. The hidden tie keeps the line clean against a tucked blouse.

Worn to the Saturday market with a tote and an iced coffee. The waistband reads hanbok, the hem reads summer, the linen takes the heat. The friend who meets the wearer at the cafe table reads it as a hanbok skirt before the wearer mentions it. That is the test the mini was built for.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
