The lilac colorway of the Gureum wrap chima. Same cloud-pattern weave, softer register at the color. Reads delicate without precious, pastel without saccharine. Mid-weight polyblend with woven motif, wrap closure with hidden tie at the hip.

Cloud, in lilac.
Mid-weight polyblend in lilac with woven cloud pattern. Wrap closure with hidden tie.
A spring portrait set in soft light. A lunch where the palette wants pastels. The piece that holds a pastel palette together by carrying the deepest read of any pastel in the room.
Lilac in Korean dress arrived through the modern atelier rather than through the Joseon-era palette. The court colors ran richer, the everyday colors ran lighter, and pastel lilac sits somewhere new. The Gureum carries the cloud motif into a softer register without losing the weave.
The lilac base reads quiet against ivory and warm against white. The cloud motif is woven, not printed, so the pattern resolves only when the light catches the weave directly. The hidden tie keeps the wrap closure flat at the hip. The polyblend takes the dye evenly and holds the pleats without setting too sharp.
Worn to the spring portrait held at the family's garden, the cousins arranged in pastels at the bench, the photographer setting up a frame. The lilac chima sits at the center, the cloud motif catching the morning light. The grandmother who chose the palette sees the photograph and names the skirt first.
