$195 to $285 · quoted in consultation

A clean jeogori-cut blouse in solid white with no print and no embroidery. The name reads as pure. The cut is the design, the shoulder set without a sharp break, the body extended past the natural waist. Lightweight cotton blend, mother-of-pearl button placket.

The Sunsu Blouse

Pure white. Quiet.

Fabric

Lightweight cotton blend in white. Mother-of-pearl button placket.

Occasion

Layered under any chima from the line. The blouse that says nothing and means it. The base piece that lets the chima do the work below the waist.

The story

The plain white blouse is one of the oldest forms in Korean dress and one of the hardest to cut well. Without ornament the design has to be in the line, the seam, the way the cloth falls at the placket. The Sunsu lives or dies on those margins. The name reads as pure, the cut has to earn it.

The shoulder is set without a sharp break. The placket runs straight, closed by mother-of-pearl buttons that read as small white discs against the white cloth. The cotton blend is light enough for layering, the body extends past the natural waist for tucking or for wearing over a skirt. There is nothing else. The cut is the design.

Worn under any chima in the line. Worn alone with denim on a Saturday. Worn at the family lunch where the wearer wants the chima to be the read and the blouse to disappear. The blouse does what its name says: it stays pure, holds quiet, and lets the rest of the outfit speak.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
