The Crystal Flower Comb

A comb that catches light.

Fabric

Metal comb base with crystal-set flowers. Hand-finished.

Occasion

Wedding-day hair where the back of the head matters as much as the front. The bridal portrait. The fix that holds an updo together for a long day.

The story

Korean hair ornament tradition is long and specific. The binyeo, the daenggi, the kkwaegoji, the comb. Each piece carried both function and read. A comb that secured the hair at the back of the head was the practical answer and the ceremonial one at the same time. The modern crystal comb walks that habit forward into the wedding wardrobe.

Metal comb base shaped for an updo, with crystal-set flowers running along the top edge. The flowers are hand-finished and set so the crystal carries the light. The comb teeth are spaced to grip the hair without pulling. The whole piece is sized to land at the back of an updo or low at the nape without dominating the shape.

Worn on the wedding day where the hair has to last from the first look through the dinner and the photograph at the end. The comb sits at the back of the updo and registers when the bride turns. A bridal portrait where the back of the head carries the second read. The fix that holds the hair and earns its place.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
