Lightweight cotton blend. Hidden side zip. Hand-finished hem.
A summer family gathering on a porch. An outdoor brunch where the meal stretches past noon. The dress that holds a long afternoon without asking for cover or apology.
The short-sleeve hanbok dress is a recent answer to an older problem. The traditional jeogori has a long sleeve, sometimes covered to the wrist, and Korean summers in the South of the peninsula are hot. The modern wearer wants the form without the heat. The Seoul atelier shortened the sleeve and softened the shoulder in answer.
Geurium keeps the cheollik chest and crops the sleeve at the cap. The shoulder seam is set without a sharp break. The chima drops lighter than the formal cuts, the hem is finished by hand. The cotton blend was chosen for August, breathable through the bodice and cool against the arm.
Worn to the brunch the cousins host every July. The conversation runs past two o'clock, the table is still set, the photograph the grandmother takes from across the patio holds everyone in the same warm light. The dress earns the afternoon, sleeve and all.
