The Mulmosi Wrap Chima (Navy)

Ramie. In navy.

Fabric

Ramie-blend with a cool hand. Wrap closure with hidden tie.

Occasion

Evening dinners through the warmer months. The summer hanbok with a slightly formal lean. The skirt for the dinner held later, indoor or out, when the palette wants weight without heat.

The story

Ramie has carried Korean summer dress for centuries. The plant is grown in the south, the cloth woven cool and slightly crisp. Traditional ramie ran ivory and natural; the contemporary atelier extends the palette into deeper registers without losing the hand of the cloth.

The navy Mulmosi sits at the formal end of the series. The same weave, the same drop, a deeper color. The wrap closure ties at the hip. The hidden tie holds the waistband flat. The mid-calf hem reads correct over an evening sandal or a leather slide. The cloth breathes through a dinner held at room temperature.

Worn to the late-summer dinner held in the family's older house, where the air conditioner runs but the doors stay open. The chima reads navy from across the table and ramie up close, the texture catching light in the dim of the evening. The aunt across the room asks where the skirt came from, the question that ends every good hanbok dinner.

Hand-finished in Seoul. Inspected and fitted in San Mateo.
